Chicks

Since a dog got our first batch of chickens, and a raccoon the batch after that, we have been really wanting to get some more. Now that we are settled from the move and winter is over, we got 4 new baby chicks for spring! I much prefer raising them as chicks to chickens then just buying a few full grown hens. It's so much fun for the kids and the chicks learn who you are and will even follow you around the yard as they get older...its adorable! Lance is working to dog, raccoon, and any other animal that wants to kill chickens, proof the coop! We have one Ameraucana (lays a "Easter" colored egg...blue, green, pinkish), 2 Rhode Island Reds (big brown eggs), and 1 black Sexlink ( lays big brown eggs also)

Ashley isn't too sure about all of this.
I love this picture! Its shows how different these girls' personalities are from each other. Kaylee insisted on having the little white one (the Ameraucana), and Emma had to have the tiny black one (black sexlink). They are loving having baby chicks again! (and so am I!)

Are you planning on selling your extra eggs?
