Chicago: Day 2

This was our second day (first full day though) in Chicago. It was also Lance's birthday! We spent this day playing tourist. Started the day off with breakfast at Panera, then hit the Field Museum, then hopped on the El and headed up to Rogers Park (Lance's old mission area), then back to the city for the Magnificent Mile, a river boat tour, dinner, and of course a birthday dessert!

This is by far one of the coolest things I've seen! Sue the T-REX!

Sue's actual skull....the one on her body is a fake, the real one weighs too much to be put on the skeleton display.

Lance's old apartment. He spent over a year of his mission in this area. This is where most of his fun mission stories come from.
Ladder up to the roof where they would throw water balloons at the El train as it went flying by. Scaring the people on the train half to death! Sounds like something a couple of 19 year old boys would do! ;)
The dumpsters where Lance and his companion would go dumpster diving!
Super tiny spiral stair case leading up to their apartment!
The little "court yard" looking over the other side of the balcony. This is where Lance said he and his companion threw one of their couches. They were getting rid of it and needed to get it out, and since lugging a big heavy couch down the tiny SPIRAL staircase would be way too hard....they decided to just toss it over. I'm sure their neighbors appreciated that! Then again, we were in the total ghetto here, so I'm sure they had seen a lot worse things thrown over balconies! ;)

River boat tour! About half way through the tour the sky opened up and just started POURING on us! We had ourselves a true mid-west rain storm! We were literally soak clear through to the bone! Luckily we had a plastic bag with us....we had to quickly get our phones out of our pockets and seal them up we were THAT wet! To make matters worse we would be leaving for Barcelona in the morning and since it was so humid there, NOTHING dried out over night! We had to hit up a laundry mat before leaving for the airport so that we weren't packing soaking wet clothes in our luggage. I didn't want the clothes (having them be wet for 2 days) starting to get mildewy and making everything else in our luggage stink!
Happy Birthday Lance!!!! Love you!!!
